Luoyang, China
October 23 - 27, 2014
WELCOME
The 2nd CALYPSO workshop is jointly organized by State Key Laboratory of Superhard Materials of Jilin University and Luoyang Normal University, and will be held in Luoyang from October 23th to 27th, 2014.
CALYPSO is one of the widely used structure prediction methods. Currently, CALYPSO users are beyond 600 and distribute world-widely over 40 countries. The goal of this workshop is to bring together the experts in the field of structure prediction and CALYPSO users to discuss the recent progress of CALYPSO method, and its future development and applications.
We believe that this is a unique opportunity for the CALYPSO users to learn in more details on how to perform structure searching on clusters, two-dimensional (2D) layers, surfaces, 3D crystals and design of novel functional materials (e.g., superhard or optical materials).
Our workshop program will consist of theory lectures and hands-on tutorial sessions. Presentations will be focused on the basic principle of the main architecture of the method, the technical details of the most recent implementations and the latest applications of the CALYPSO code to material science.
Particular emphasis will be placed on a tutorial session about the installation of the code and the calculation of a few basic examples. Practice will be carried out in dedicated computers. Our ultimate goal is to train the workshop participants to become experts in CALYPSO.
This workshop is particularly purposed to train Chinese scientists, and therefore the workshop language is in Chinese.
The second CALYPSO Workshop was held successfully in Luoyang Normal University during October 23 to 27, 2014. This workshop is jointly organized by State Key Laboratory of Superhard Materials of Jilin University and Luoyang Normal University, and attracted more than 260 experts and scholars from all over the world.
